Nicolas Johnson

Nic has been a dedicated member of our firm as a Law Clerk, demonstrating exceptional legal acumen and a deep commitment to public service. His extensive experience and passion for advocacy make him a perfect fit for this role.

Nic is set to earn his Juris Doctor from Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law in May 2025. A Public Interest Scholar, he has actively contributed to justice initiatives, including the Clemency Clinic and the Public Defenders’ Legal Externship. His dedication to public interest law is further reflected in his involvement with the Public Interest Law Society, his pro bono work as a Legal Advocate with the City of Philadelphia Domestic Violence Filing Unit, and his focused coursework in Health Care & The Law, Family Law, Poverty Law, Evidence, and Sentencing & Punishment.

Before law school, Nic graduated cum laude from Spring Hill College in May 2022 with a B.S. in Political Science & Law, a Minor in English, and a Certificate in Free Enterprise. He was a four-time Dean’s List recipient and held leadership roles such as Student Government Association Senior Class President and Senior Resident Advisor, showcasing his strong leadership and commitment to service.

Nic’s hands-on legal experience is extensive. As a Certified Student Attorney with the Public Defender’s Association of Philadelphia (August 2024 – Present), he represents clients in preliminary hearings, early bail reviews, bench warrant hearings, and misdemeanor trials while conducting critical client interviews. In his role as a Law Clerk at Jensen Bagnato, P.C. (June 2024 – Present), he has sharpened his legal research and writing skills, drafting civil complaints, arbitration-level pleadings, and legal memoranda on complex legal issues, including trust revocability and divorce decree validity.

His dedication to pro bono work is further exemplified by his time as a Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network MLK Jr. Legal Intern at Justice at Work (May 2024 – August 2024), where he authored a legal memorandum on child labor laws and conducted client interviews in both English and Spanish. At the Villanova Law Caritas Clemency Clinic (August 2023 – May 2024), he worked on compassionate release cases, representing individuals in federal prisons, handling FOIA requests, reviewing legal and medical records, and drafting release motions.

Nic’s diverse legal experience also includes serving as a General Counsel Legal Intern with The School District of Philadelphia (May 2023 – August 2023), where he provided legal analysis on policy memoranda, legislative bills, and litigation strategies.

Beyond his legal pursuits, Nic remains committed to community engagement as a Volunteer & Mentor at Level Up Philly (2022 – Present).

With his strong legal foundation, hands-on experience in litigation and public interest law, and unwavering dedication to serving the community, Nicolas Johnson is poised to make a meaningful impact in his new role. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team in this expanded capacity.
